The Alan Parsons Rejects

SHOWS

"Have you seen them play before?"
"Yes."
"Do they usually suck real bad then walk off stage?"
"No, that was planned."

April 29th, 2007 at diPiazza was our most Kaufmanesque show yet, being both the "washed-up drugged-out has-been internal-problems break-up" show, followed by the "come-back sell-out cleaned-up corporate-sponsored-reunion" show.

Despite pretend problems with drums and real problems with a forgotten bass, we took the stage in obvious frustration and played our first set list:

  1. Frye [badly out of tune]
  2. Teeples & Thatcher [interrupted slightly]
  3. Sixteen Tons
  4. Hollow [about half of it]
  5. Crawling [most of it, but w/o vocals]

At which point we broke up. We had tension and arguments beforehand and during the entire set, culminating in Brian blaming it on Rowland, who stormed out in frustration. It was brilliantly staged.

Then Nectar Of The Gods played their set, with Brian on rhythm guitar, and plenty of obnoxious comments between songs directed at the public fiasco. Then we announced our triumphant reunion tour, and did our second set:

  1. The Life Of Brian
  2. Swimming With Sharks
  3. Afraid To Fart
  4. "Cageless Avarian"

This was truncated from our original seven songs planned due to lack of time. When told we had a max of two minutes for one more song, Rowland goaded someone to call out for the last one. Overall, it went over amazingly well, with Kenneth and Nick both in outrageous costumes.
